AMERINDIAN RESEARCH is a quaterly journal in the German language for all scientists, amateur researchers and friends, who are united in their collective interest in the culture and history of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. You will find there information and interesting contributions about the wide spectrum of Indian culture, their lifelong habits and history from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.

In every issue, AMERINDIAN RESEARCH presents about five central articles comprehensively discussing special themes. A wide spectrum of information is shown in a number of shorter articles. An extensive section is given to the reviews of new books. Additionally, we report on dates of exhibitions and ethnological museums primarily in Germany.

Recently, there were several contributions about Indians of Middle America: The life of the Maya ruler Shield Skull, reconstructed from old inscriptions; the Mexican world of gods: Quetzalcoatl and the sun god Tonatiuh; the turtle in the mind of Mesoamerica; and, the Mexican art of textile yesterday and today. These are only some of the examples.

Concerning South America you will find contributions about the conquest of the Empire of the Incas; technology of old Peruvian metal-working; the mysteries of the Nasca culture of Peru; and, an account of a visit to the last of the Botocudos of Brasil.

The culture and history of the natives of North America are central points of our publication. We highlight particular indigenous peoples, their culture and history and the acts of outstanding persons.Famous men like Crazy Horse and Joseph Brant find their places alongside lesser known tribes such as the Calusa and the Suhtai. Reports and interviews that show the native peoples' situation today in North America are also prominent.

AMERINDIAN RESEARCH was founded in 2005 by Dr. Mario Koch and Rudolf Oeser as a German professional magazine for all people interested in American Indian history. In 2006 we presented themes about old Mexico and Peru and published He Dog's memories of Crazy Horse. The year 2007 showcases contributions about the life and disappearance of the bison; secrets of the Nasca culture of Peru; the 200th year of the death of Joseph Brant, chief of the Mohawk Iroquois; and, many more subjects. In the Olympic year 2008 we will present a special issue about sports in the old Indian America. Every issue contains from 60 to 64 pages (Colour cover, inside black and white, many illustrations). The price within Germany is 7,00 Euro; four issues are 25,00 Euro (postage within Germany included).
